On the occasion of VivaTech, the World’s rendez-vous for start-up & leaders, our law firm organised, in partnership with the IP/IT team of KGA, a challenge for German, Austrian and Swiss start-ups planning to expand in France.

Cortexia, Solvemate and Spotixx are the three start-ups which have won our legal support. The representatives of these start-ups will present their project at VivaTech, on Thursday May, 16th, at stand H44 (Hall 1) of the German-French Area for the Industry of the Future (Espace Franco-Allemand pour l’Industrie du Futur).

Also on May, 16th at 16:00, the prize-giving ceremony will take place in order to reward the winner among these three start-ups, which will benefit from additional advantages as part of the development of his project in France.

The jury will select three start-ups, one of which will be a winner based on:

  • the profile of the start-ups and the expertise of the project team;
  • the innovative nature of the project;
  • of the attractiveness of the business project;
  • the development and profitability prospects for the project in France as indicated in the business plan

The prizes


The three selected start-ups will be invited to participate in the next VivaTech with travel, accommodation and access to VivaTech, up to a maximum of 1500 euros including VAT per start-up (on supporting documents).

The awards will be given to the three start-ups on May 16, 2019 at VivaTech. Each selected start-up will be able to benefit from legal support by WENNER and KGA’s IP/IT department as part of its development in France. This support will consist of a set of services offered* (advice and drafting of the necessary documents, excluding costs) for, for example:

  • the establishment of their commercial relations with French customers or suppliers,
  • the creation of a stable structure in France (branch, subsidiary,…),
  • advice on French labour law.

The prize for the winner of the best project will be €15,000 including VAT, the prize for the second start-up selected will be €10,000 including VAT and the prize for the third €5,000 including VAT.

* Litigation cases or cases relating to fundraising, acquisitions or transfers are not included in the offer, nor are administrative costs related to procedures carried out on behalf of the company (trademark, design and model filings, etc.)

The Bureau will offer to the winner, for a period of 6 months, a domiciliation at its address, including official address, reception of mail and access to The Café for lunch and business meetings.

Who can participate?

The Challenge is open to start-ups:

younger than three years, registered in the German, Austrian or Swiss company registers

Applications must be submitted by filling in the fields belowbefore midnight on April 15.

The purpose of collecting and processing the data mentioned above is to organize and execute the Challenge, i.e. the selection of candidates and the examination and selection of the projects submitted, as well as all subsequent correspondence. This data is kept for the duration of the Challenge, which ends on the evening of May 18, 2019, unless there is a subsequent correspondence following the Challenge; in this case, the data will be destroyed 12 months after the last correspondence. The processing of this data is carried out in compliance with the regulations and in particular the amended Data Protection Act and the General Data Protection Regulations.
